Let's pick-up the point that closed 'Zero.'… with no people you don't need a big building either.
We'll have no premises (other than somewhere to which legal notices can be sent).
No central base. No hub. No car park, no water cooler, no executive washrooms; a distinct absence of somewhere from whence everyone goes home in the evenings and weekends.
Having been a bit worried about how oh-so-amateur that might make us seem, I'm encouraged that for many years WordPress was also homeless.
Automattic, the holding company behind WordPress.com, finally got an office late last year at Pier 38, a beautiful open-floorplan space right on the Embarcadero.
It's about a five-minute walk from my apartment, but my preference is to work from home.
We're very much a virtual company where everyone primarily works from home (or their coffee shop of choice).
The half dozen of us in the Bay Area will go in on Thursdays to have a little company, but six days out of the week the space is usually empty.
